Commercial equipment
Commercial dish machine not getting hot enough
High-temperature machines rely on a booster heater for the final rinse; low-temperature machines rely on chemical sanitizer. Knowing which you have narrows the cause quickly.

Safe checks before you book
- Read the gauges. Note the wash and rinse temperatures shown on the machine during a cycle.
- Incoming water. Check the building's hot water is reaching the machine at normal temperature.
- Chemical supply. On low-temp machines, check the sanitizer and detergent containers aren't empty and the lines aren't kinked.
- Scale and filters. Clean the scrap screens and wash arms; heavy scale insulates heaters and blocks nozzles.
Unplug first. Switch off power (and close the water or gas supply where it applies) before looking behind or inside an appliance. If anything feels unsafe, stop and call.
What usually causes it
| Booster or tank heater | A failed element or its contactor. |
|---|---|
| Thermostat or sensor | Reads wrong, so the heater shuts off early. |
| Chemical pump | On low-temp machines, a failed pump means no sanitizer. |
| Fill or rinse valve | Too little water, or rinse water that never reaches the arms. |
When to stop and call
If the machine can't reach sanitizing temperature or sanitizer levels, use your backup procedure for washing and sanitizing until it is fixed.

What the visit costs
The diagnostic is free when you approve the repair and it's completed. You get the cause, the parts, labour and total in writing before any work. If you don't go ahead, it's $149 + tax per commercial unit.
