Repair or replace?
Over-the-range and built-in microwaves are often worth repairing because installation is involved; small countertop microwaves usually aren't, and we will say so.

Dead display or keypad
A blown internal fuse (often from a door switch fault), a worn keypad or the control board.
Sparking inside
Stop using it. A burnt waveguide cover or metal in the cavity are common causes; a damaged cavity paint can arc too.

Is it worth repairing a microwave?
Over-the-range and built-in microwaves often are, because replacing them involves installation. Countertop microwaves usually aren't, and we'll say so before you book.
Why shouldn't I open the microwave myself?
The high-voltage capacitor can hold a dangerous charge after the microwave is unplugged. Our technicians discharge it before touching anything.
Do you repair range hoods?
