Dishwashers
Dishwasher leaking onto the floor
Leaks from the front are usually the door or too much soap. Leaks from underneath can be a hose, a pump or the water valve, and are worth acting on quickly because water can travel under flooring.

Safe checks before you book
- Right detergent only. Hand-washing liquid in a dishwasher makes a mass of suds that pushes out the door. Use dishwasher detergent only.
- Door gasket. Run a finger around the seal for tears, gaps or food stuck in it.
- Is it level?. A dishwasher tilted toward the front lets water reach the door seal.
- Under the sink. Check the supply line and drain hose connections for drips.
Unplug first. Switch off power (and close the water or gas supply where it applies) before looking behind or inside an appliance. If anything feels unsafe, stop and call.
What usually causes it
| Door gasket or tub seal | Worn seals at the door or around the spray arm base. |
|---|---|
| Pump or hoses | A cracked pump housing or loose hose clamp underneath. |
| Water inlet valve | A valve that drips even when the dishwasher is off. |
When to stop and call
Water that keeps coming with the dishwasher off. Close the supply valve under the sink.
