The checklist

TaskHow oftenWhy it matters
Go easy on self-cleanRarelyThe 450 °C-plus cycle is the single most common trigger for a door lock, sensor or control board failure. Clean heavy spills by hand once the oven is cool.
Wipe spills while warm, not hotAfter cookingSugary spills burn into elements and glass. Wipe once the oven is warm, not when it's hot, and never line the floor with foil.
Keep gas burners dry and seatedAfter cleaningWater in the spark igniters causes endless clicking. Dry burner caps and seat them square after cleaning.
Check the door gasketEvery seasonA torn or flattened gasket leaks heat, which shows up as uneven baking and a longer preheat.
Watch the preheat timeOngoingA gas oven that preheats slower each month has a weakening igniter. Replacing it then avoids a no-heat dinner.
Use the right pans on inductionEvery useOnly magnetic pans that cover the zone. A pan that's too small or non-magnetic makes the zone pulse or refuse to start.
Keep the vents clearOngoingOvens vent through the back of the cooktop or under a burner. Don't block it with pans or a splatter guard.
